from the corner of my eye

beneath the blue sky and in the dark green shade
they come and keep me — caretakers only I see
they’ve been with me all along
given by the Creator making me at home
sadly they’re dissipating
in time I’ll forget
my heart and mind deprived of the best things
both sacred and divine that remind me this is but a stop along the way

This is my Thursday image prompt offering. The URI below links to Rick’s post and a much higher quality image of his fine painting.

“this is but a stop along the way”

How true is that. Excellent piece, Greybeard.

paisley — oh you are. sometimes it just lies to close to see. as i used to tell people back in my college days when they asked if i was ready for the test — “ready or not”.

all of the above — I always appreciate your comments. My first rule of blogging is if you don’t have anything to say, don’t say it, so I’ll just say thank you, and ask you not to think me anything but taciturn because I no longer reply to all comments. Again, I do appreciate them all. It’s why I do this.

My skin alternates between thick and thin, but I’d appreciate any critical type feedback y’all might offer. As I told Rick, I don’t want to learn how to do this by copying y’all. I won’t progress if I don’t get dirty though. What’s the point of doing something if you don’t want to get better at it?

I stopped by from Rick’s place to read your poem. It’s beautiful. Reminds me of how the magic of childhood can fade as we get older, and how sad that can be. Very nice poem.

Thanks, greybeard. I was reading through some of your other posts. I especially related to the one about relatives visiting…. Not always fun.

If you're interested in reading a fairly detailed account of addiction and depression, Cracked Head Memoirs might be for you. It basically tells how it was and what happened. Writing it helped me go from active addiction to recovery yet again.
